The studies for works will never end. They flow this way and that. This idea leading to that idea. Like a river full of estuaries. One idea spills into the next. I never really know where they will end up or lead to. Finally, when enough work and ideas have been exhausted a narrative starts to form. Like actors in a play, or like characters in a film a cast apears.

I'd like my paintings to be like the Japanese film maker Akira Kurosawa's films or the early films of the French film maker Georges Melies.. full, bright and interesting.
