  • Trajan’s Column ("Our Sea") — expanded the empire to the farthest extent it reached

  • The Roman Peace

  • Bernini

  • The Circus Maximus

  • Palazzo Farnese

  • The Palatine Hill

  • The sculpture of Caesar (in the National Sculpture Museum)

  • The Pantheon

  • The Catacombs — just couldn’t make it

  • The Appian Way — too far out

  • Aqueduct Park — very beautiful

  • The statue of Constantine — the one on the chair

  • St. John’s in Lateran

  • The House of Cecilia (St. Cecilia)

  • Santa Maria in Trastevere

  • The Spanish Steps

  • The Jewish Quarter

  • The Vatican

  • The Dome of Michelangelo

  • The Vatican Museums — Laocoön and His Sons****

  • The School of Athens — JUST WAY, WAY TOO PACKED. But saw books at the American Academy in Rome.

  • Piazza Navona (Bernini) — Fountain of the Four Rivers

  • Bernini’s Ecstasy of Saint Teresa — too packed

  • Campo de’ Fiori (“center of the flowers”)

  • Borghese Gardens & Gallery/Mansion

  • Bernini’s David (Borghese Gallery)

  • Piazza Garibaldi

  • Emperor Trajan’s Aqueduct
